Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School (CGPS) is a coeducational PK-12 independent day school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, founded in 1764 as a preparatory school for what would become Columbia University. It is among the oldest independent schools in the United States and now operates independently of Columbia. The school is housed in connected buildings on West 93rd and 94th Streets near Central Park, with the Lower School (PK-4), Middle School (5-8), and Upper School (9-12) organized vertically across the complex.
