About
City and Country School is a progressive PK-8 independent school in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, founded in 1914 by Caroline Pratt — inventor of the Unit Blocks. The curriculum is built around hands-on, project-based work organized by age groups (Twos through XIIIs) running real school enterprises (print shop, post office, store). One of the oldest and most influential progressive schools in the United States. No standardized testing required for admission.
